Larry Fisher- #19 Modified and #9 Late Model
Larry
Fisher is no newcomer to asphalt racing.
Fisher
began his career at Sundance Vacations Speedway (formerly Evergreen
Raceway and Mountain Speedway) when the track reopened in 1988 after
being dormant for a number of years.
At
the time he competed in the Street Stock division and adapted
quickly and it was obvious that Fisher’s “itch” for racing was there
to stay, as he notched his first career victory on June 11 of that
season. Aside from his initial victory he was very competitive to boot.
Winning a combined four Street Stock races along the way, he competed in the division for a
couple of
years before switching to the elite Modified division. After
visiting victory lane several times he switched to the Late Models,
and again in winning form.
Fisher also knows how to build race cars. He began his business,
Fisher Chassis and drove a Gary Fisher owned Fisher Chassis Late
Model to the 2001 championship at Mahoning Valley Speedway. He
equaled the feat in 2005 and 2007 at Sundance Vacations Speedway.
Entering the 2009 season at Sundance Vacations Speedway alone, he
has amassed 32 combined wins, which include 23 in a Late Model, 5 in
a Modified and 4 in the Street Stock.
Fisher is the only driver to compete at least once per year at
Sundance since the track reopened in 1988 and his son, Travis made
his track debut at the speedway in 2004 in the Four Cylinder
division. One night in 2007 the duo made track history, as it was
the first time that father-son won feature events in two separate
divisions on the same night. Ironically, they made history again at
the end of the season as they both went on to win divisional crowns
in the points chase.
Come
on out to the races and cheer on Larry Fisher- we’ll be listening
for you!
